If you have never been to Portugal, then you are in for a treat!
With great beaches, restaurants, bars, and activities. You have everything you need for a great holiday in the sun.Things to consider when going to Portugal!
Consider which time of year is best for you to visit! Things to consider would be;
- The type of weather you prefer
- The atmosphere you enjoy the most, whether it be busy bars and restaurants or a calmer and quieter environment.
- What you plan on doing when there e.g. exploring, site seeing, playing golf, relaxing on the beach, etc.
Pre-book airport transfers
If you’re making your own travel arrangements, find out how to get from the airport to your accommodation before you book your flights. If you’re relying on public transport for transfers, you could get caught out if services finish earlier than you expected or don’t run at weekends.
Documents to bring
It’s always best to double check your passport is in date, you may need at least 6 months if coming from outside the EU. it is also recommended you carry another form of ID such as your driving license as you don’t want to be going out with your passport and risk losing it! It’s also needed if you plan on hiring a car on your stay.
Travel insurance
Quite an obvious one really! Travel insurance is simple to get and is usually rather cheap! Definitely worth it.
Travel money
It’s always best to plan ahead and get your currency changed before you go! There are plenty of ATM’s in all international airports and most places will take card payments. Although it would be good to get the best deal on your currency before you go to get the most out of your GBP.
Packing
When packing for a major tourist destination such as Portugal you don’t need to worry if you forgot to pack something or are restricted by hand luggage restrictions. You can buy pretty much anything you need, although somethings may be a little pricier.
Check out the local events
It’s always well worth checking out what’s going on in Portugal at the time of your visit. Every town usually has an event on whether it be a food or saint related festival. If you book to stay at Villa Bam, there is a great online guide of what’s on in the area.
