Almancil is less than 10km from the coast and has one of the prettiest churches in the Algarve. In the 1730s, the interior walls were coated with blue and white glazed tiles painted by Policarpo de Oliveira Bernardes. You can lose yourself staring at the stunning walls.
Just along from Dunas Douradas is Quarteira and Cavacos. Quarteira was one of the original resorts to be established along the beautiful Algarve coastline. The beach is one of the finest in the central Algarve regions. The golden sands stretch the entire length of the town and blend into the pristine beaches of Vale do Lobo. Stand-up paddleboarding is very popular in this corner of the Algarve.

Fun for the kids!
Children will adore Villa Bam. The spaces everywhere are so well planned. The pool will keep them happy for hours, especially with the water fountains going! The pool table will be very popular too!
Children will love a visit to Aquashow Park at Quarteira with its wave pool, lazy river, flumes, slides and fairground rides. The rollercoaster, air race and top swing rides are wild enough to get a big thumbs up from most children. The watercoaster ride is so thrilling! There is a mini-train for small children which will be a delight. There are also interesting animal shows with birds of prey and snakes.
Almancil Go Karting is sure to be a hit. Experienced karters can use the speedy 390cc karts, and there are 200cc karts for over 13’s and junior karts for younger children. If parents would rather take the wheel, there are two-seater karts available too
Pinetrees Riding is the local stable for horse riding. They offer tuition for riders from 4 years old to 70 in the pinewoods, beside the salt flats and the beach area in the Ria Formosa Nature Reserve or through the orange groves of the Ludo Valley. There are several others closer to Vilamoura as well. Vilamoura has a tennis academy with a dozen courts as well as a popular restaurant.
Somewhere for everyone!
The Ria Formosa lagoon is a perfect place to explore on the water. The Ria Formosa is a 170 sq km natural park containing the lagoon, barrier islands and wetlands. It stretches from Faro to Cacelha near Tavira. At the marina in Faro, you can take a tour where you will see traditional fishermen and shellfish farmers at work. The birdlife is incredible with woodchats, terns, red-crested pochards as well as ferruginous ducks and purple herons.
For a busy or more sophisticated nightlife, you may want to head to Vilamoura. The buzzing marina is so attractive and has many interesting, alluring shops as well as excellent restaurants. There are countless activities including tennis, horse riding, sailing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, parasailing, boat trips and fishing. Falesia Beach stretches for miles.
Loule is a bustling market town where you can experience typical Portuguese daily life. The charming town is centred around the North African inspired covered market, its local produce and fresh fish and regional handicrafts. It comes alive on Saturdays with extra markets hosted on the edge of town.
Villa Bam is a great destination if you are a golf fan. Not only is the San Lorenzo Golf Course 5 minutes from the villa, there are many fabulous courses nearby including the Victoria (18 holes used for the Portugal Masters), Pinhal (18 holes Par 72), the Old Course (18 holes Par 73), Millenium (18 holes Par 72) and Laguna (18 holes Par 72). It is a golfers paradise!

In the summer months the temperatures can reach up to 31°. Great for the sun seekers and keen sunbathers! The villa is fully air conditioned too so if you fancy a cool down, either a dip in the pool or a relax inside will help.
