After 10 years of being recognised for its world class golf courses, Portugal is now being recognised for its many other attractions. For the second year running Portugal has taken home the award for the World's Leading Destination!
This years World Travel Awards was held at the Pátio da Galé in Lisbon. Up against some amazing destinations such as the Maldives and the USA. Portugal still managed to pull it out of the bag yet again.
Portugal's secretary of Tourism Ana Mendes Godinho proudly accepted the award. She described Portugal as an authentic yet sophisticated country which is now being discovered by sea and air all over the world. Last year Portugal welcomed over 13 million tourists from across the globe!
